So naturally, when Steamforged sent us an early preview image of the pre-assembled plastic Rangosh, along with a bit of backstory, I got that urge to roar again. This is what really started piquing my interest with Godtear beautiful, factionless models in a “no rulers needed” hex-based game is great, but removing the need for me to glue my fingers together multiple times before playing is the real coup de grace. Once we finished our game, Jonathan explained that the metal model was actually an early access sculpt, and that all of the models in the finalized version would be fully assembled and ready to play right out of the box. I immediately played my first game, and Rangosh was an absolute terror. My instincts told me to pick Rangosh up, turn him toward my enemy, and roar.īefore I had the chance to do so, Lorsaynne distracted me, and then the incredibly unique Shayle came into focus – both having an elegance and intrigue that attracts my more refined adul-BUT OH MY GOODNESS LOOK AT RANGOSH! …and a familiar feeling started sinking in. One day, I walked into our office and before me stood this monstrosity… For what seemed like months, Jonathan (Head of Design here at Covenant) had been talking more and more about this new game called Godtear. Whether it was opening my first pack of Pokemon TCG cards or seeing Star Wars TCG cards on the table for the first time, there is something truly special about finding ‘your’ new game. ![]()
